Making A Mini Greenhouse Out Of 4 Hula-Hoops...

If you want to make a really simple (and cheap) mini greenhouse for your garden, then here’s a really simple project that uses hula-hoops and a few other pieces of equipment. Here’s what you’ll need…

  • 4 wooden planks
  • 4 Hula-hoops
  • A hose pipe
  • 8 metal bars
  • Shade cloth
  • Conduit

First you’ll need to create a small box using the wooden planks. Then, hammer the metal bars into the planks with 4 on each side. Next, connect the four hula-hoops to the metal bars you just hammered in. Place the shade cloth over the hula-hoop frame, and secure it with zip ties. Finally, make a few adjustments and you are done!

I did this but went a step further, my raised garden is 4 feet wide so the hula hoops are much flatter. I added a second row of half inch (longer) pvc pipe on different rebar posts over the hula hoops. I am in zone 5b here in Quebec and that second layer of protection really helps lengthen the growing season each way.
