Best Selling Grow Bags & Fabric Plant Pots – Reviews…

Growing your own vegetables or plants in grow bags is ideal alternative for those people who lack the space for a traditional garden, or for those that would simply like to grow a few plants on their patio or deck. Almost any vegetable you can grow in the garden can be grown in a grow bag, and vegetables like tomatoes and peppers do extremely well, as long as the bags are big enough.

Grow bags are made from a “non-woven fabric” – which is usually felt – the quality of which is determined by the grade of felt, with higher grades being thicker and stronger. Felt grow bags are also a better longer term alternative to plastic nursery grow bags, and even most plant pots and containers, as the felt provides the plants with greater air circulation to their root structure.

This effectively helps to “air prune” the roots. Air pruning is where the tips of the roots are burned off due to their exposure to the air (being absorbed by the felt), resulting in more new lateral roots growing. As the plant grows, this means more new plant roots forming for increased uptake of minerals and water.

In contrast, plants grown in containers and plastic bags will eventually become root bound, where their roots will keep growing longer around the confines of the pot or bag, rather than encouraging the plant to produces more roots. These root bound plants will eventually need to be transplanted into bigger pots (or the garden) as they grow, in order to keep them healthy (and potentially having to loosen and trim their root structures when doing so).

The automatic air pruning achieved when using felt grow bags on the other hand creates a better, more healthier root structure, which will result in healthier and happier plants that produce more flowers and fruit. If the grow bag is big enough, the plant should also be happy enough to remain in the grow bag and not require transplantation.

Here are some of the best selling & highest rated felt grow bags that you might like to consider based on past customer experience. Keep in mind that all of these come in various sizes, from small 1 gallon up to large 100 gallon grow bags, so you can select the size most appropriate for the plants you plan to grow…

“Ok so I do a lot gardening. The grow bags work. This will be my second season using various sizes. A little background. I am an urban gardener living in the Mid West. My yard is a large concrete patio about 40×20. The bags come in enough sizes to grow virtually every vegetable.”

“So far I love my pots. I am not allowed to have an actual garden where I live so I bought two sets of the pots and my plants are doing well. I have tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil, squash, and zucchini. The plants are growing well, and I really like the fact that since I am trying to sell my house, if I end up moving I can take my little garden with me!”

I’ve used a variety of “smart” pots and these take the cake. The fabric doesn’t leave you itchy and they all come with handles. They are sturdy too!”
