With all of the various techniques that exist to grow a garden, the straw bale gardening method is certainly worth consideration if you’re looking for a method that requires less overall work & maintenance.
Once you’ve setup your straw bales and conditioned them, you can simply plant your plants directly into the bales (both on the top, and grow out the sides). No digging, no soil tiling. Better yet, at the end of the season, you can simply compost the straw bales and turn them into some really decent compost for the next growing season.
