In this 3 part series you’ll learn how to build a system to collect rain water for emergency storage scenarios and also to use to water your garden. The first step shown here is to lay a strong foundation because we will be holding over 1 ton worth of water.

In the second video, you’ll see how a cover was made for the IBC tote from sun shade fabric, plastic grommets, and zip ties. This will reduce the sun exposure by over 75% and looks pretty decent, too.

The third video shows you how vinyl gutters and 2 inch PVC piping were installed to collect and direct the water into the IBC tote for storage. There is also a rain catchment system test video added that shows the amount of rainwater captured. Check it out…
